Abertillery – Miss Honeybella, the other woman
February 8th, 2010, under Uncategorized
Thank you to Shelley , Phil, Kelvin, everyone who came to enjoy some blues in Abertillery last night, especially Dai for getting up with the harp. A guitar used for part of the first set was Miss Honeybella, left to me by Jim who passed away recently, she is a young, exquisite guitar mistress. She can be fine, sophisticated and dirty. She is a Vos 59 and hope you agree sounds quite a bit like the original 59 Les Paul once played by Peter Green. I like that her history is unwritten. A song that fits her is this gorgeous tune from last nights gig

The Borough Blues Club
October 12th, 2009, under Blues Club
This club has been going from strength to strength, it is a place where lovely people have a genuine appetite and appreciation for great blues and we finally got to play for them. Billed, as like greats such as Peter Green, Clapton and the Kings, the pressure was on ( just a tad) to deliver something special. So we gave it all the Mojo we got ! and hope everyone enjoyed the night. It was a first gig for Jerry Smith who did a fab job on Bass having worked so hard to learn the Mojojim set, and for the babe who had just returned from Italy. Nick Broughton kindly joined us for a classic and young Luke Doherty gave a new DR Z amp a blast towards the end to build anticipation of playing with his own band next month. Plus guest vocals from Adrian Bold and Kieth Barwood both showing how to stay young at heart. Music photographer Liz Aiken was there, you can see some more of her fab pics here. More pics from Marc Ackrill-Smith , cheers. Sending All our Love

Rock and Roll – Cleopatra
September 15th, 2009, under Music & Dance
To avoid being captured and taken to Rome Cleopatra appeared at the Burlesque Cardiff “Little bit of History ” show along with eight other stunning artists, cancaneuse. Very hard to follow we did our duty to keep everyone on their feet with a dance set to finish off. Thank you to the appreciative audience and Foo Foo for asking us to be involved in yet another fab, fun sell out show. What will you come up with next? Keep an eye on updates via the Cardiff Burlesque site and don’t miss this showreel of the event with photos taken by the very talented Carl DeAbreu.
